JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Department of Biostatistics and Medical Informatics (BMI) engages broadly in data science research, service, and education. The collaborative approach taken by the UW Carbone Cancer Center, BMI, the School of Medicine and Public Health, and UW-Madison creates an environment in which unexpected research ideas developed at the intersection of different disciplines thrive. BMI faculty and research staff collaborate with all SMPH, College of Letters & Science, College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, and School of Veterinary Medicine departments, as well as the School of Computer, Data, and Information Sciences; the College of Engineering; and several research centers on campus. The incumbent will be part of the Cancer Informatics Shared Resource (CISR) within the Department of Biostatistics and Medical Informatics, which supports research within the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC). CISR supports scientists and clinicians in the processing and analysis of various next-generation sequencing, proteomic, metabolomic, imaging, and clinical data. Day-to-day operations will include analyzing data, organizing results, giving presentations of results to collaborators and colleagues, assisting with publication preparation, and grant writing for cancer-related research. Responsibilities: Identifies research problems, designs research methodologies, performs and supervises research, and prepares and presents results for presentation to professional organizations or for scholarly publications. May supervise staff. 10% Identifies research problems and develops highly complex research methodologies and procedures. Publishes and presents results to help advance research 45% Collects and analyzes highly complex research data, conducts experiments and interviews, and documents results according to established policies and procedures 15% Conducts literature reviews, prepares reports and materials and, disseminates information to appropriate entities 10% Attends and assists with the facilitation of scholarly events and presentations in support of continued professional development and the dissemination of research information 10%...
