Wolters Kluwer Associate Director, HR Business Partners in Madison, Wisconsin

LOCATION: You will need to be based out of one of the following locations: Philadelphia PA. Madison WI, Hudson OH, or Waltham MA – (hybrid 8 days per month in the office)

OVERVIEW

You will work closely with the Directors of HR to lead the development and execution of a human capital strategy in partnership with the BU leaders and their leadership teams. You will translate business need into human capital strategy to support business direction and implement it operationally. In addition to building relationships and developing an understanding of the business, this role collaborates with a team of HR functional experts in Centers of Excellence (CoE’s) to translate business needs into human capital solutions designed to support the achievement of enterprise or business area goals. This is an individual contributor role.

You are accountable for the performance and results of multiple related departments or areas that provide the human resources business partnering function. Provides leadership and guidance to managers, supervisors, and/or high level professionals based on organizational goals, company direction, general policies and management guidance. You will assist with the direction of designing, implementing and monitoring a variety of human resource programs. You will be accountable and plan for long-term human resource needs and trends in partnership with business management. Develops departmental plans, including business, production, operational and/or organizational priorities. Controls resources and contributes to policy formation. You will develop implement new projects, policies, and procedures to meet goals contributing to the development of HR functional strategy.

RESPONSBILITIES

You will have the following key responsibilities:

  • Provide human resources subject matter expertise to the Health division BU’s in their remit.

  • Analyze pertinent HR data, metrics, and trends to provide insights and recommendations to leadership to help drive their business decisions.

  • Develop and implement complex HR programs/projects that align to HR goals and support the strategic objectives of the business.

  • Support talent management processes through active leadership, coaching, recruiting and organizational development activity including performance reviews, talent reviews, training, and cultivation of new leaders through the use of available programs and tools.

  • Develop “trusted advisor” relationships with key business partners and ensure effective communication with executives and managers across the company to ensure proper focus on HR issues.

  • Contribute expert knowledge with strong influencing and coaching skills for leaders and managers on handling a variety of workplace issues and concerns.

  • Provide expert leadership for human resources programs for various areas of HR management including Performance Management, Employee Relations, Organizational Development, Employee Engagement, Organizational Re-design, and Change Management working within a complex organization to find creative solutions.

  • Partner with HR COEs such as Talent Acquisition, Compensation and Benefits, Talent Development and HR Operations to address talent, organizational development, employee relations and compensation and benefits issues affecting division.

  • Devlop and deliver presentations for broad audiences including executive leaders. Confidently communicate complex ideas (internally and externally) and persuades senior level to adopt a different point of view.

  • Partner with business leaders to drive optimal organizational structure, content of jobs, establishment of performance standards.

  • Leads year end processes as it relates to total rewards. Communicates and trains senior leaders on company guidance by country. Ensure desired behaviors are identified and reinforced in total reward and professional development programs to reward results and drive better business outcomes.

  • Stay informed about global laws, regulations, and trends to ensure that the company’s policies and programs conform to these and are competitive. Advise the business on regulatory employment law in partnership with Market HR in countries supported.

  • Stay abreast of industry best practices, identifying areas of improvement, recommending, and implementing those best practices to support the corporate goals and development.

  • Participates in global taskforces (within HR and the business) to drive and evolve talent solutions (DEI, Retention, Recognition, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business, Organizational Development or related field

Experience: Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including a diverse exposure to all major functional areas of Human Resource and management of others to achieve desired objectives.

  • Global experience as an HR professional required.

  • Requires a high degree of knowledge and resulting credibility to foster the necessary business relationships and build consensus with senior leaders, a leader with significant influencing skills

  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills with the ability to deal with ambiguity and provide leadership to drive solutions.

  • Effective at leading change and organizing people and activities to effectively and efficiently complete projects and work.

  • Proficiency with HR information systems, preferably Workday and the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree preferred.

  • Experience in Sales, Product Management, Professional Services, and Software environments a plus

  • A mix of professional work experience in large, developed organizations as well as smaller entrepreneurial companies.

  • Demonstrated analytical, creative thinking and interpretation skills in solving complex HR issues.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaboratively work with a wide range of people at all levels of the organization. Team oriented, cooperative and flexible.

  • Experienced in partnering with HR Shared Services /COE on various HR Business Processes.

  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills preferred.

  • Experienced in applying the principles and practices of human resource management to contribute to the success of the business.

  • Proven track record of serving as a transformational leader for the organization by leading change and the ability to articulate and shape the organization’s culture.

  • Proven ability to manage interactions with and between others with the specific goal of providing service and organizational success. Experienced in working effectively in a matrix environment.

  • Strong understanding of the business and the industry. Proven track record of providing direct guidance and coaching to organizational stakeholders (e.g., leaders and employees) seeking expert advice. Commercially minded.

  • Workers Council and Labor Law experience preferred

  • May require working outside of standard business hours at times

Other Skills or Certifications:

  • SHRM certification preferred

TRAVEL: Up to 25%. Must be able to obtain and maintain valid travel documentation
