STI Electronics, Inc. SMT Assembly Technician in Madison, Alabama
Job Summary: Responsible for manual soldering/assembly functions in STI Electronics. Tasks to be performed include supporting machine placed components with hand assembly support on prototype and production printed circuit boards. This effort may also involve assembling surface mount/through-hole technology, low volume and prototype boards, manually. The role will involve picking, onsertion/insertion and hand soldering of SMT and leaded components, cleaning assemblies (both manually and with the cleaning system), conducting quality inspections of completed assemblies, performing rework/repair of products when necessary and properly documenting operations performed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for following Quality Management System.
Responsible for performing soldering/assembly operations in accordance with training and customer requirements.
Responsible for properly interpreting customer supplied documentation and drawings or seeking help in their interpretation.
Responsible for inspecting electronic components and assemblies, to ensure adherence to specific requirements, using a microscope.
Responsible for cleaning parts and assemblies at various stages of production, using cleaning devices and equipment.
Responsible for completing and maintaining records of production and defects.
Responsible for maintaining technical re-certification as required.
Perform other duties as required by supervisor/management
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to be certified to J-STD-001 (with Space Addendum)
Knowledge of Component Identification and Polarity
Ability to read/interpret customer drawings and requirements
Ability to perform repetitive work
Must have good attention to detail
Must have basic mechanical assembly skills
Ability to communicate orally and in writing
Work independently with little or no supervision
Ability to maintain effective working relationship with others
Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment
Ability to comprehend and follow verbal/written instructions
Ability to safely operate various types of soldering equipment ability to lift/carry a short distance at least 35 pound
