Job Title: Mechanic

Job Description

We are seeking a full-time mechanic who will primarily work on diesel engines and agricultural equipment. During the busy planting and harvest seasons, the role will shift to operating heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform all types of custom application duties including spraying, spreading, and NH3 application.

• Apply crop nutrients and crop protection products safely, accurately, and efficiently.

• Calibrate fertilizer and spraying equipment properly.

• Complete and maintain required application reports, vehicle inspection reports, and other documentation.

• Operate, service, and maintain all types of custom application equipment.

• Assist with housekeeping and maintenance of the facility, roadways, and assigned vehicles/equipment.

• Operate equipment and vehicles safely and responsibly.

• Ensure timely and accurate delivery of products as directed.

• Report to a centralized location at designated times unless approved by management.

• Assist with daily operations including receiving, loading, and delivering products.

• Resolve customer complaints quickly and fairly in accordance with company policies.

• Provide prompt and courteous customer service.

Essential Skills

• Mechanical skills with an emphasis on diesel engines and agricultural equipment.

• At least 2 years of agriculture-related experience preferred.

• Proficient computer skills with the ability to learn key operational programs.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong mechanical and decision-making abilities.

• Flexibility in a rapidly changing environment.

• Excellent organizational skills including multi-tasking, planning, prioritizing, and delegating.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers, employees, supervisors, and suppliers.

• Valid driver’s license (Class D required at hire, CDL with tanker and hazmat endorsements preferred).

• Maintain commercial applicator's license.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Heavy equipment operation experience is a big plus.

• Mechanical aptitude and maintenance repair experience.

• Experience with inventory, shipping, and receiving.

• Experience with operations management and project management.

• Ability to meet driver qualification standards set by the self-insured group in which the cooperative is a member.

Work Environment

The work environment includes both machine shop and outdoor settings. You will work around machinery and moving parts, and be exposed to airborne particles such as grain, dust, and fertilizer. You may encounter adverse weather conditions and loud noise levels requiring hearing protection. Physical requirements include lifting up to 75 pounds, walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and crawling. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory due to exposure to hazardous materials and fumes. Extended seasonal hours may be required to meet deadlines.

This is a Permanent position based out of Madelia, Minnesota.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45760.00 - $56160.00

They do offer full benefits (Health, Vision, Dental). 401K and PTO are also offered. Must work a probationary period before they are eligible for benefits.
