Main responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic legal advice to senior management and other internal stakeholders on a variety of commercial and regulatory matters (e.g. pricing and reimbursement, wholesale agreements, government tenders, clinical trials research agreements, distribution arrangements, competition law, marketing and advertising promotional practices, data privacy, dispute resolution and other general commercial matters).

  • Proactively provides advice and counsel on legal issues to all support functions within the company including ethics & business integrity, finance & tax, regulatory affairs, clinical studies unit, supply chain, quality, medical & scientific, pharmacovigilance, market access, procurement, digital and privacy.

  • Manage contractual and other legal risks and exposure including developing template agreements.

  • Identify and implement staff training in legal matters including contracts, corporate governance, competition and consumer law, new legislation and other areas of law as needed.

  • Adhere to Sanofi global requirements in respect to compliance and SOPs, develop guidelines and trainings to business partners to improve executional excellence, empowerment and accountability.

About you

You must be able to work with cross functional stakeholders to assist them with adherence to Sanofi’s policies, understand legislative developments that may impact our business, and work through direct and indirect management of both internal and external resources. This requires a high degree of organisational skill and focus on detail.

You will operate with limited supervision, and therefore require a high level of balanced judgment and an ability to independently discern and establish priorities. Agility and willingness to learn about various subject matters (both from a legal and business perspective) are highly valued. Ability to identify potential legal issues as well as proposed solutions to mitigate risk is required.

You must demonstrate the following behaviours in partnering with cross-functional stakeholders: strategic business ownership, external awareness, impact-based advice, proactivity, innovation, and focus on value creation. You will know when to escalate issues internally and with outside counsel.

Essential

  • Tertiary qualifications in law

  • A current practising certificate in an Australian jurisdiction

  • Post qualification experience with a Legal Department of a large multi-national company or relevant experience at a top tier law firm

  • Excellent strategic, analytical and communication skills.

  • Ability to quickly learn the nuances of the multi-faceted Sanofi Global Business Units.

  • Strong leadership skills.

  • Excellent client relationship and ability to collaborate efficiently across teams and departments.

  • The role would suit someone with 6+ years post qualification experience.

  • A motivated self-starter that wants to broaden their skillset in a role that will continue to grow with the business
