Erie 6.5hrs/day Paygrade 5 $16.12/hr Replacing Andrea Colucci Effective asap Position Summary Supports a positive learning environment by providing additional education support to teachers and students while maintaining confidentiality. Duties and Responsibilities (These duties and responsibilities are judged to be "essential functions" in terms of the Americans With Disabilities Act or ADA) Support and works with students individually or in small groups with grade level material under the direction of a classroom teacher. Supports Reading Acquisition and Core curriculum best practices. Administer assessments and interpret results to identify student needs. Records and reports assessment data; completes required forms, reports, and other paperwork. Works with school team to discuss students' goals and progress. Attends professional development sessions and training programs to remain current in the field. Communicate with staff and students to answer questions, disseminate or explain information. Assist with communicating with the community under the direction of the teacher and school administrator, as needed. Two years of study at an institution of higher education, or an Associate's degree (or higher), or successful completion of the ETS Assessment (prior to date of application) required. Experience: Experience interacting with children individually and in groups in an instructional/educational setting preferred. Knowledge: Knowledge of school policies and safety regulations, required. Knowledge of reading, writing and mathematics, required. Skills: Good oral and written communication skills, required. Basic computer skills, required.
Abilities: Ability to assist classroom teacher instructions, required. Ability to read and interpret the English language, required. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, required. Ability to effectively communicate with staff and students, required. Ability to be caring, understanding, and friendly towards students, required. Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and parents, required. Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, required. Ability to read and interpret school policies and handbook, required. Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and community, required.
