RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:

  • Observe, supervise, and evaluate between 25 and 30 Master of Arts in Teaching residents and undergraduate student teachers per semester
  • Travel up to 3 hours one way for observations
  • Be available to assist students, mentors, and administrators with issues during the evening
  • Provide support to the students throughout their experience
  • Grade assignments and provide prompt feedback
  • Host professional development meetings virtually and on the Macomb and Quad Cities campuses
  • Secure student teaching placement sites in identified public school districts
  • Collect contracts and other paperwork from school personnel
  • Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with PK-12 schools
  • Serve as a conduit to facilitate recruitment efforts when working with school districts
  • Assist the Office of Teacher Education with other duties

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4 or more years teaching experience in a public school
  • Master\'s degree in an educational field
  • Experience with Danielson evaluations
  • Proficient with technology tools: scanning, uploading documents, Google Suite, spreadsheets, Zoom
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience tracking data for multiple students (e.g., grades, due dates, etc.)
  • Valid Driver\'s License
  • Illinois State Police/FBI fingerprint background check will be required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Instructional coach experience
  • Experience mentoring new teachers
  • Be team-oriented and student-centered

For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body). Unless otherwise stated, the degree must be \"in hand\" at the time of appointment.

THE OFFICE OF TEACHER EDUCATION: The successful candidate will join the Office of Teacher Education on the Macomb campus at Western Illinois University. The WIU Office of Teacher Education, housed in Horrabin Hall, serves students in the 28 undergraduate and graduate educator licensure programs offered at the University. The office houses the undergraduate teacher education advisor, field supervision staff, the educator licensure staff, the Coordinator for Field and Clinical Experiences, and the Director of the MAT Program Recruitment, Licensure, and Residency. This position is directly supervised by the Coordinator of Field and Clinical Experiences and the Coordinator of the MAT Program Recruitment, Licensure, and Residency.
