BWXT is currently seeking a Cyber Security Administrator for its Lynchburg, VA location!

The Cyber Security Administrator will be required to identify, categorize, prioritize, and investigate events as the initial cyber event detection for the enterprise. The Cyber Security Administrator will follow operational processes and procedures to appropriately analyze, escalate, and assist in remediation of critical cyber security incidents. The candidate will report directly to the Cyber Security Manager.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Performs analysis of security data from multiple cyber security tools deployed on the network.

  • Supports cyber security program efforts in the areas of Vulnerability Assessment, Access Control and Authorization, Intrusion Prevention and Detection, Policy Enforcement, Application Security, Protocol Analysis, Incident Response, and Advanced Threat Detection.

  • Executes remediation efforts for security events as directed.

  • Documents and communicates findings and after-action reports.

  • Analyzes and reports on actionable threat intelligence.

  • Generates reports and creates documentation to support the cyber security efforts.

  • Supports ongoing cyber security projects.

  • Manage interactions with internal stakeholders in a professional manner.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

  • Minimum five (5) years’ relevant experience.

  • Must be able to follow procedures and defined work processes with the following: Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) administration, network intrusion detection system (IDS) administration, Active Directory and Group Policy Objects, Advanced Threat Detection Administration consoles, Data Loss Prevention (DLP) systems, Microsoft Windows operating systems, Linux operating systems, advanced cyber security toolkits, malware analysis, penetration testing, and digital forensics tools.

  • Must have a fundamental understanding of system functions, cyber security policies, and cyber security protection requirements.

  • Must possess strong problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.

  • The ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously under pressure.

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills with an emphasis in technical report writing; applicants are encouraged to submit a sample of a technical report authored by the candidate.

  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive information.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Q clearance.

Pay: $ 63,000 - $ 99.000

The base salary range for this position in VA at the start of employment is expected to be between $63,000 and $99,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
