The Systems Engineer designs, tests, troubleshoots, and implements shipboard systems that satisfy specific customer requirements. These systems include L3Harris and vendor equipment with mechanical and electrical components that integrate into an operational system that passes system tests. Computer and network subsystems are also a part of these designs.
The successful candidate will be responsible for solid, consistent deployments, maintaining high standards of security, availability, and performance for public safety communications systems. The candidate will also have significant exposure to vendors and external customers who purchase shipboard systems as well as the people within L3Harris who participate in these programs, requiring the ability to communicate effectively.
Essential Functions:
Craft solutions for engineering problems
Test and physical manipulation of equipment
Resolve customer issues, deliver clear and concise statements of work for sub-contractors, and continually improve execution via tollgate processes
Implement and support complex radio system networks & information assurance products for customer Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems
Facilitate activities with vendors, escalation teams, and other teams within L3Harris
Maintaining documentation & configuration revision control
Following established ISO processes via tollgate system
Reporting regularly on project status and progress
Ability to travel up to 25%
Traverse a ladder, transport at least 35 lbs., perform mechanical modification tasks such as working with hand tools, drills, etc
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Experience with server administration Python, sec+ and CCNA
Advanced degree and/or professional certifications
Secret Security Clearance is a plus
Experience managing multiple concurrent project tasks and prioritize them appropriately
Has clear & concise ability to communicate issues for technical and non-technical audiences
Demonstrate leadership skills which include customer focus, change management, & teamwork
Self-motivated team player, able to set priorities and manage to deadlines
Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills
Demonstrated ability to proactively resolve problems
Experience implementing complex LMR systems
Able to work within a cross-functional team environment
