Team Overview: The European Sales and Operations Planning (EU S&OP) team plays a pivotal role in forecasting inventory flows across various countries. We manage everything from what Amazon receives from vendors and sellers to what it ships from our Fulfillment Centers (FCs). Our responsibilities also include measuring S&OP performance and driving continuous improvement in planning processes for local networks, with a focus on reliability, speed, cost, and sustainability. We collaborate closely with Supply Chain Optimization Technology (SCOT) teams in North America and internal tech stakeholders across Transportation, Labor Planning, and Finance teams. As part of S&OP, the Planning Automation Modules (PAM) team is currently revolutionizing the way S&OP generate plans, building a dedicated infrastructure to support the S&OP process at a global scale. This includes platforms to run complex optimization models on-demand in a fast and scalable ways. The current version of PAM is already in use in Europe and North America and used to plan inventory flows across more than 300 FCs globally.
Your Role: We are now seeking an SDE II to help us scale PAM for worldwide operations. This is a Day 1 opportunity to be part of an entrepreneurial and pioneering team building from the ground up. The SDE II will be a force multiplier within the team by being a role model and by mentoring other SDEs in the team. They are fungible and able to pick up new systems and quickly consult when needed. They understand the complexities in the design and solve them head on.
We are looking for someone who has an established background delivering highly distributed systems at scale, design patterns like CDKs, libraries, versioning, and a strong operational track record while working with multiple teams. As an SDE II, this role provides you with autonomy and ownership to solve difficult problems, working backwards from customers. Your systems drive critical decisions for WW Operation teams, which brings scale and responsibility.
You will use a wide range of technologies, programming languages and systems. Your responsibilities will include all aspects of software development. Key Qualifications:
• Design scalable architectures for low-latency data processing.
• Show initiative in investigating and solving problems.
• Effectively communicate technical details with senior engineers from partner teams.
• Communicate effectively with local and remote teams, both verbally and in writing.
• Lead and be hands-on in investigating design approaches, prototyping technology, and evaluating technical feasibility.
• Establish architectural principles, select design patterns, and mentor team members on their appropriate application.

Basic Qualifications
Experience (non-internship) in professional software development
Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
