Job Description

The seasonal Capacity Building Specialist will manage the Mitigation and Prevention Department's program equipment, primarily the prevention cache located in Hudson. This role is a key part of our efforts to reorganize and improve operational efficiency. The specialist will oversee the inventory of prevention supplies, coordinate the shipping of materials for statewide events and support national and local prevention teams during periods of high fire danger. Additional responsibilities include managing the department's sim tables, developing and maintaining a schedule for loaning equipment and tracking their loaning to personnel across the state. This seasonal position will also provide support for other program needs as they arise, ensuring the department remains responsive and well-equipped to carry out its mission of wildfire prevention and mitigation.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Capacity Building Specialist I - Seasonal has a variety of duties and responsibilities, which include, but are not limited to, the following:

-Oversee and maintain the inventory of prevention supplies at the Hudson cache. Ensure supplies are properly stocked, organized and prepared for shipment.

-Coordinate the timely shipping of supplies to personnel to statewide events, training and operational needs. Manage logistics for shipping supplies to national and local prevention teams assisting Texas during high fire danger periods.

-Manage and track mitigation and prevention departments' sim tables. Develop and maintain a comprehensive calendar of sim table use, including a maintenance schedule. Track and monitor sim table loans to personnel across the state to ensure availability and proper usage.

-Assist with other program-related tasks and needs as requested by the Mitigation and Prevention Department. Contribute to the department's overall mission of wildfire prevention and mitigation through proactive support.

-Possess the ability to lift 50 pounds and move heavy equipment and materials as needed. This is a physically demanding role that requires an individual to be on their feet and to have strength and stamina to perform tasks efficiently throughout the day.

Qualifications:

-A high school diploma or equivalent.

-A valid Texas Driver's license s or the ability to obtain one within 180 days of employment is required.

-Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required for this position.

-An ideal candidate has strong written and oral communication skills and can work independently and be self-directed. This position requires the ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities in addition to working closely with others at times.

-Strong organizational skills are required to effectively track, maintain and manage inventory of cache and program materials.
