Position Description:

Performs highly skilled mechanical and/or analytical duties in the coordination and completion of projects. Work is performed under general guidelines using established procedures and evaluated on results obtained. May supervise skilled and semi-skilled subordinates.

Major/Essential Functions:

  • Utilizes proper safety techniques and equipment to prevent personal injury and property damage by attending safety meetings, setting a good personal example, and by personal observation.

  • Keep an ongoing inventory of chemicals (in stock & amount used) in storage by estimating amount of chemicals needed and ordering as necessary. Also keeping storage clean and orderly.

  • Operate all trucks, tractors with attachments, equipment and tools used by the Grounds Maintenance department.

  • Identify and control noxious plant, insect and disease species using chemical, cultural and integrated Pest Management techniques.

  • Mix and apply pesticides per label instructions, utilizing mechanical devices such as tractor-operated spreaders, 300-gallon hydraulic sprayers, bank tank sprayers and other equipment as needed.

  • Spray for pests, structural fumigation, commodity fumigation, weeds, lawns and ornamentals as a licensed non-commercial pesticide applicator, licensed by the Structural Pest Control Board/ Texas Department of Agriculture.
