Position Description:

Designs, implements and manages an assigned program. Typical duties can include but are not limited to: Identify funding opportunities, conduct program assessments, prepare program reports, oversee and manage program marketing and communications, manage program databases, supervise program staff, plan research activities, coordinate program events, participate in strategic planning, manage program files, establish program standards and objectives, direct logistical activities to promote the success of programs, develop and implement project timelines and ensures deadlines are met, oversee program budget, ensure goals and objectives of grants are met, assists in proposal writing, comply and analyze program statistics.

Major/Essential Functions:

The Program Manager is expected to be an ethical team member who is knowledgeable of Texas Tech University’s policies and procedures and who strives for professional effectiveness by continually participating in professional development and educational activities to renew foundational understandings, improve skills, and acquire new knowledge.

  • Work directly with Texas Tech students to promote mental wellness

  • Build rapport with students while providing mental health support

  • Facilitate peer support mental health meetings

  • Coordinate events for students who are a part of the Student Mental Health Community

  • Assist in growing the Student Mental Health Community

  • Presenting to faculty, staff, students, student organizations, and community agencies about the Student Mental Health Community

  • Plan and execute campus wide events and outreach opportunities

  • Act as a liaison with other departments to partner on the Student Mental Health Community

  • Providing supervision to student assistants, graduate assistants, and other paraprofessionals

  • Work closely with the Senior Director on coordinating any immediate response necessary

Schedule Details:

M-F 8-5; occasional evenings & weekends

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in counseling (or related field) preferred. Experience in higher education. LPC or LPC-A. Strong written and oral communication skills.

The ability to work with students in distress, maintain accurate records/files for related responsibilities. Proactive orientation to working between groups and individuals to create positive relations; strong interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively; and ability to manage and complete tasks in a timely way; the ability to commit to work in an academic setting.
