As a communications coordinator in Marketing & Communications, you are responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of comprehensive communication strategies to enhance Texas Tech University’s image and reputation. You will collaborate with various colleges, departments, units and stakeholders to create engaging content for both internal and external audiences.

Major/Essential Functions:
As a communications coordinator in Marketing & Communications, you will support the Administration & Finance division at Texas Tech University. This position plays an important role in informing the campus community and constituents about Administration & Finance via written and digital communications. Your experience in website management, especially with Omni Update, will be key as you assist in the development and maintenance of web pages.
In this role, you will work closely with the assistant director of communications for Administration & Finance, the directors and associate vice presidents in that area, and colleagues in Marketing & Communications to work on written communications, website maintenance, design, and other media to communicate with constituents.
Assist in the development and execution of strategic communication plans to promote university initiatives, programs and events
Create and distribute content for various communication channels, which may include, but is not limited to, newsletters, social media and websites
Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of communication strategies and make recommendations for improvement
Maintain good relationships with the staff in Administration & Finance
Write compelling content and stories of the staff and students in Administration & Finance
Post regular updates to the Administration & Finance website
Develop documentation and knowledge base of current processes
Provide expertise in responsive communications, editing and attention to detail
Work with units within Administration & Finance to develop plans to engage strategically with their individual audiences

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field.
Previous experience in communications, marketing, or public relations, preferably in a higher education setting.
Two to four years of experience working in communications
Understanding of strategic communications and marketing
Working knowledge of content management systems (CMS)
Strong writing skills
Ability to communicate effectively with both external and internal audiences
Understanding of best practices in website management, including SEO and web analytics
To be successful in this role, you should have:
Demonstrated knowledge of working within a content management system (CMS) to perform website updates and a proficient understanding of HTML code
Understanding of best practices in website management, including SEO and web analytics
Strong communication skills including grammar, spelling and punctuation
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products
Experience designing print pieces in Adobe Creative Cloud and other platforms such as Canva
High-level attention to detail and ability to quickly learn new systems
Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to clearly communicate with leadership
Experience creating and implementing digital communication plans
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
Express ideas/information in a complete, clear, concise and organized manner
