Position Description:

The Associate Managing Director of Institutional Research will oversee state and federal reporting processes, ensuring data accuracy, timeliness, and compliance. This role involves leading a team, collaborating with stakeholders, and leveraging data analytics to improve efficiency and inform decision-making. The successful candidate will have strong technical, communication, and leadership skills as well as a deep understanding of higher education and state/federal reporting regulations.

Major/Essential Functions:

  • Manage the end-to-end THECB reporting process. This includes collecting, analyzing, and validating student, HR, and facilities data. Ensure data quality, accuracy, and timely submission of reports to THECB. This role also involves collaborating with functional departments, ERP support, and THECB to meet reporting requirements and utilize data for decision-making.

  • Oversee the federal (IPEDS/NSF) reporting function of the department. This includes improving processes, enhancing systems, and allocating resources to ensure accurate and timely data submission. The role involves identifying bottlenecks, streamlining workflows, implementing data quality checks, and resource allocation.

  • Leverage data analytics to improve reporting efficiency, identify trends, and support decision-making. Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with state and federal reporting, implementing appropriate controls and safeguards. This includes coordination with data governance.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including state and federal agencies.

  • Generate recurring and ad-hoc reports for internal and external stakeholders, presenting data in clear and understandable format.

  • Build, develop, and lead a high-performing team of professionals responsible for various aspects of state and federal reporting.

  • Assist the Institutional Research department head as required. Responsible for all Institutional Research functions when the department head is unavailable.

Preferred Qualifications:

An advanced degree in a relevant field and significant experience in higher education administration, particularly in institutional research and analytics. Additionally, experience in project management is highly valued. Leadership experience, including managing teams and overseeing complex projects, is also essential.
