This is a Job Description for a Production Supervisor in Louisville, Mississippi

Duties & Responsibilities: Leads, assigns, trains, instructs, and assists operating personnel to meet production objectives. Assures effectiveness, utilizing good supervisory techniques. Plans and schedules work for the shift for the best utilization of employees, materials, and machines in accordance to the demands set forth by the production schedule. Expedites "hot" orders as necessary. Implements and oversees all production orders. Identifies and resolves any production bottlenecks or variation from standard; refers recurring or more complicated problems to the Superintendent. Assures the continuing training of all shift personnel in safety practices and good housekeeping. Administers and assures compliance with company and official safety rules (OSHA). Also, responsible for proper administration of other company rules and regulations as applicable. Verifies weekly timecards of shift personnel. Reports attendance, time and efficiency results to ensure that reliable date is available to show output of shift. Administers department's personnel actions including grievances, vacations, transfers, terminations etc. Coordinates with sister departments to expedite production. Maintains production facilities with assistance from Maintenance Personnel. Reports major maintenance problems to the Superintendent of the department. Confers with Superintendent to evaluate effectiveness of the department. Recommends improvement steps and helps to implement improvement on shift. Responsible for the accurate recording and handling of hazardous chemicals within the department in accordance with the latest regulations set forth by the EPA. Responsible for improving and developing manufacturing processes to improve production throughput. This will involve any of the production processes performed at Taylor Machine Works, Inc. including parts making, burning, bending, machining, welding, straightening, etc., assembling subassemblies through complete assembly including finishing processes. Surveys production facilities and layouts. Recommends alterations of facilities and helps implement changes. Evaluates material flow, utilization, and efficiency. Studies material usage, storage practices and material handling procedures. Recommends alternate procedures or facilitates and helps implement changes. Evaluates communications for clarity and accuracy. Recommends revisions as necessary and helps with implementation. The incumbent will use various tools to perform the job, including computers, computer generated reports, etc.

Requirements

: Bachelor's degree or may substitute 6 years supervisory experience in welding, tooling, or manufacturing. Proficient with Microsoft Office programs to including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Read and interpret detailed blueprints. Able to work a minimum of ten hours per day and as workload demands, additional hours may be required to meet the objectives of the production schedule. Strong coaching and communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate vertically and horizontally with internal and external stakeholders.
