Minimum Requirements:Associate’s degree in a related field and 4 years of relevant experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.Position Description:The Laboratory of Joseph Moore IV, Ph.D. in the Center for Cardiometabolic Science/Envirome Institute is seeking a skilled and motivated Research Assistant III to join our research program focused on unraveling the fundamental biology of the cardiac extracellular matrix (ECM) and its implications in cardiovascular health and disease. As a vital member of our team, you will contribute to elucidating ECM-mediated biological processes, deciphering intricate signaling networks during cardiac development and injury, and understanding how modifications in cardiac ECM structure impact fibroblast phenotypic conversion and function. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in molecular cardiology and cardiac biology. We are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace where all team members can thrive and make meaningful contributions to scientific discovery.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Assist in the execution of experiments aimed at comprehending the role of the cardiac ECM in cardiovascular health and disease.Perform molecular and cellular assays to investigate ECM structure, signaling pathways, and fibroblast phenotypic changes.Conduct animal handling, husbandry, and colony maintenance in accordance with institutional guidelines.Possess knowledge of transgenic mouse lines relevant to the research objectives and assist in transgenic techniques as needed.Collaborate with principal investigators and co-investigators to analyze data, interpret results, and contribute to publications.Maintain accurate records of experimental procedures, results, and data analysis.Contribute to the development and optimization of experimental protocols and techniques.Preferred QualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field.Previous experience in animal handling, husbandry, and colony maintenance.Proficiency in molecular and cellular biology techniques, including PCR, Western blotting, histology, immunohistochemistry, and cell culture.Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.Demonstrated ability to adapt to new techniques and learn new skills quickly.Target Compensation Maximum:$27.85Target Compensation Minimum:$18.56Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.Equal Employment OpportunityThe University of Louisville is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer, and is committed to providing employment opportunities to all qualified applicants without regard to race, sex, age, color, national origin, ethnicity, creed, religion, disability, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity and expression, marital status, pregnancy, or veteran status.
