Job Title: Mechanical Helper

Job Description

We are seeking three Mechanical Helpers to join our team immediately. As the outage season approaches, we need these individuals to start by February 19, 2025. The role involves traveling to client sites to service pumps and valves, using basic hand and air tools, and assisting in maintenance tasks. The job requires physical strength and the ability to work at heights in power plants.

Responsibilities

• Lift up to 75lbs and travel with another employee to client sites.

• Use basic hand and air tools including impact wrench, air grinder, drills, and torches.

• Work on graded floors in power plants, which may involve working at heights.

• Meet with an internal employee daily and travel together to client sites in a company truck.

• Assist in disassembling pumps and valves and performing maintenance tasks.

• Travel extensively during spring and fall outage seasons (March-May and August-October), with trips typically lasting 4-5 days each week.

• Stay in company-paid hotels with individual rooms and receive a daily per diem when traveling.

• Receive a 10% premium pay when working in power plants on the road once hired full-time.

• Spend the rest of the year at the shop, training and servicing pumps and valves sent in from other clients.

• Assist other technicians and mechanics with pump and valve work.

• Maintain a clean and presentable appearance and perform janitorial functions as required.

• Maintain harmonious working relationships with fellow employees.

Essential Skills

• Good mechanical aptitude.

• No fear of heights.

• Motivation to work and grow within a strong company.

• Physical ability to lift up to 75lbs.

• Ability to travel to surrounding states (WV, OH, IN).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• OSHA 10 certification.

• Experience servicing pumps and valves.

• Military especially Navy, in a heavy mechanical role.

• Ability to properly identify and use basic hand and air tools.

• Ability to consistently demonstrate repeatable basic skills as trained.

• Ability to tear down and clean valves and pumps with supervision.

• Skills to operate sand blasters (enclosed), lapping machines, heating cutting torches, and valve test stands.

• Skills to properly lap and polish valve seating surfaces.

• Ability to use correct equipment terminology and lingo as required.

Work Environment

We are a family-owned company with 40 years of experience servicing pumps and valves in industrial markets. Our work primarily takes place in KY, OH, and WV, both in a valve shop environment and in loud, dirty, industrial power plant environments. Work hours vary, with some days requiring shifts from 7AM-3:30PM and others up to 12-hour days during outages. Employees may also be on call some weekends.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Louisville, Kentucky.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
