Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN)-TITLE 5, Position Description Number PDT5896000 and is part of the KY 123 AW, National Guard. NOTE: Current on-board applicants (AREA 1, Title 5 employees) will retain current tenure and be temporarily promoted or reassigned, all others will be hired with indefinite tenure. Responsibilities As a IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN)-TITLE 5, GS-2210-11, you will serve as a technical expert and focal point for the installation and configuration of classified hardware and software on personal computers and associated assigned systems. Develop, modify, and test overall classified system backup and recovery strategies for assigned systems. Serve as a systems administrator responsible for planning, coordinating, modifying, implementing, and troubleshooting to meet customer needs. Determine equipment and communications requirements and interfaces with other systems. Analyze, evaluate, and recommend hardware/software changes to various classified computer systems. Implement systems software changes, operating system releases and maintains the operational status of systems. Analyze system operations to identify inefficiencies and takes action to resolve problems and ensure optimal performance and consistency. Troubleshoots and corrects software problems to include resolving conflicts between applications, hardware and/or device conflicts, and operating system faults. Provide input to the ANG Continuity of Operation Plan (COOP) procedures for system disaster recovery. Perform other duties as assigned. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. This is an Information Security Workforce position. Incumbent must meet position requirements for certification at Level II in Information Assurance Technician (IAT-II) within 6 months or less of appointment to this position. Certification requirements may be found in DoD 8570.01-M Information Security Workforce Improvement Program. Irregular and overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies. Position is designated as OM-ADM-001 within the Defense Cybersecurity Workforce as guided by NIST SP 800-181; National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education, Cybersecurity Workforce Framework. This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. This designation will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by the TAG.? This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP). The employee is subject to random drug testing. Pre-employment drug testing and participation in random drug testing is a condition of employment. Note: The caveat is that the States, Territories, and the District of Columbia cannot drug test until a drug free workplace policy has been established and approved by the United States Department of Health and Human Services. Qualifications SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least one (1) year experience at the next lower level in the normal line of progression through federal service (GS-09) or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that demonstrates the experience and knowledge of information technology principles, concepts and methods. Experience with techniques and requirements of assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization. Experience planning the sequence of actions, coordinating with others outside the organizational unit, and developing project controls necessary to accomplish the assignment. Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment. Experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion. Must have Security+ Certification. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Resume must have complete dates, work schedule, and/or hours worked per week for both civilian and military employment.
