ManpowerGroup Industrial Engineer, Maintenance Manager in Louisville, Kentucky

Manpower Engineering is looking for an Engineer to serve as Maintenance Supervisor for our Louisville, Kentucky client. This is a direct hire/perm role, M-F days.

  • Job Overview: Supervise maintenance staff - Prioritize, maintenance functions, monitor spare parts inventory, work with suppliers to assure parts are ordered and delivered in a timely manner, direct the PM program, look for efficiencies in not only the maintenance department but production as well. Identify areas for improvement and develop maintenance strategies that are enforced among the maintenance staff. Improve/develop better PM system. Utilizing existing tools and implementing new processes in order to track, direct and evaluate the effectiveness of maintenance functions. The ultimate goal is to reduce equipment downtime while managing expenditures.

4 Key Areas:

  • Proper Communication with management, and staff: What needs to be done, what do you need to complete it, where do things stand, etc.

  • Execution: Do what you say and actually follow through with items/actions

  • Completion: Lots of things can be rigged to run but need the service completed the way it should be. Parts stocked, ordered, etc. Have a completion statement and process to check off service completion

  • Organization: Time, tasks, parts room, maintenance room, etc. What needs to be done and when, organize PMs, etc.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Timely response to safety issues and concerns.

  • Direct an effective and efficient maintenance staff that provides coverage for necessary production shifts while minimizing OT. Three on maintenance staff now, will hire an additional person.

  • Develop better PM system

  • Fill in as needed for staff on vacation, absences, emergencies, etc.

  • Maintain a fully functional and current preventive maintenance system.

  • Manage and control the spare parts inventory.

  • Utilize predictive maintenance where desired.

  • Track and report equipment downtime.

  • Manage response to emergencies and sudden equipment breakdowns.

  • Responsible for security procedures.

  • Schedules with plant management when PM and non-critical activities are to take place.

  • Maintain the building and grounds security, safety and appearance.

  • Manage suppliers to provide cost-effective services.

  • Control all maintenance purchases and provide all necessary documentation.

  • Coach and develop maintenance staff in proficiency of equipment.

  • Champion special project design, build and outsourcing.

Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree

  • Supervisory or management experience.

  • Effective communication skills. Must work well under pressure. Ability to lead subordinates toward the goal of effective equipment and facility maintenance.

Physical Abilities:

  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs.

  • Stand for long periods of time.

  • Kneeling and squatting extensively.
