Are you passionate about making a difference in manufacturing and community development? At GE Appliances, we’re looking for an engaging, driven External Manufacturing Workforce Development Trainer to lead programs that spark interest in manufacturing and build a talent pipeline within the community.
As a Workforce Development Trainer, you’ll work closely with local schools, government agencies, and industry partners to create programs that prepare individuals for a future in manufacturing. You'll play a key role in organizing impactful events and learning experiences that reach diverse audiences, including both internal employees and students considering careers in manufacturing.

How You'll Create Possibilities
Lead External Workforce Development Programs (70%)
Design and oversee manufacturing workforce programs, from student tours to career fairs, coordinating events like Manufacturing Month and partnering with organizations such as SummerWorks, Junior Achievement, and JCPS Academies of Louisville.
Build partnerships with community and educational institutions to develop skills and cultivate a talent pipeline.
Manage key programs like SummerWorks, providing coaching, development, and recruitment for high school apprenticeships (e.g., Kentucky FAME).
Stay current on the latest manufacturing processes and technologies to deliver relevant and high-impact training.
Develop Learning Plans for Key Manufacturing Roles (10%)
Collaborate with HR and Manufacturing Leaders to design and refine training courses that address technical skill gaps.
Use instructional design and adult learning principles to create content that resonates and promotes competency.
Set up and manage learning plans in our Learning Management System (LMS), tracking and reporting course completion.
Deliver Training to Hourly and Salaried Employees (20%)
Lead training sessions on essential manufacturing skills and topics, such as Cultural Competency, Front Line Leadership, and APS curriculum.
Organize train-the-trainer programs and manage scheduling for internal development courses.
Evaluate course and trainer effectiveness, using feedback to continually improve the training experience.
What You'll Bring to Our Team
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, HR, Learning & Development, Business Administration, or related field.
3+ years in Manufacturing Leadership, Workforce Training, or HR, with demonstrated experience in classroom facilitation and course planning.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex ideas and engage diverse audiences.
Proven experience in curriculum development and knowledge of Continuous Improvement & Lean Manufacturing.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with e-learning software is a plus.
A positive, professional presence and strong organizational skills.
