Minimum Requirements:Bachelor's degree in a related field and two (2) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Grade 4 (Salaried)Position Description:The University of Louisville School of Nursing seeks to hire an Academic Advisor II at the Owensboro extension in Owensboro, Kentucky. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide academic advising for prospective and currently enrolled students in the School of Nursing (SON). This requires interpretation of university policies, procedures and academic requirements, analyzing and tracking applications, and retention and recruitment efforts. This position also includes conducting student orientations, analyzing student academic records, preparing academic plans and admissions materials, and providing excellent customer service. It may include financial aid and career counseling. This is an in-person position.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAcademic Advising - Serve as the point of contact for prospective students. Advise current and prospective SON students per unit and university policies and procedures. Work extensively with the KCTCS transfer office, local universities, and high schools in Daviess County and surrounding counties to ensure a smooth transfer process for prospective students to matriculate to the nursing program.Unit Admissions Decisions - Audit upper division admissions applications for admissions committees by established deadlines. Interpret transfer course work for equivalency toward nursing degree. Work jointly with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions regarding transfer equivalency reports, academic petitions, and admission of new students to the university. Update student records in the university system with committee decisions. Communicate admissions processes and decisions to students. Attend BSN Academic Affairs Committee meetings to present student petitions.Student Orientations - Provide orientation to new upper division nursing students. Create and deliver presentation materials. Facilitate application and admission workshops for students.Retention - Monitor progress of students towards degree completion. Maintain thorough and consistent processes for tracking student progress and other important information. Provide data for reports as requested.Recruitment and Special Events - actively recruit nursing students from schools and colleges in Daviess County and surrounding counties. Meet with prospective students. Attend recruitment events as a representative of the School of Nursing. Present at events, as applicable.
