Siena College Vehicle and Equipment Mechanic in Loudonville, New York

Perform specialized mechanical duties in the inspection, maintenance and repair of functional parts of automobile equipment and machinery; provide technical guidance and direction to mechanic. To provide the college with all phases of vehicle and small engine repair in a reasonable time frame, highest quality, and to assist the Lead Mechanic with daily management of the Vehicle Repair Shop. Duties include, but are not limited to providing maintenance of the College fleet consisting of approximately 50 automotive units, 20 construction equipment units, and 50 pieces of lawn and miscellaneous equipment. Work on vehicles and equipment will range from routine preventive maintenance to sophisticated diagnostic work and associated repairs and major repairs including replacement of primary equipment components (engines, transmissions, etc.). Assists the Facilities Manager and Lead Mechanic to perform all Vehicle Repair Shop administrative duties including fueling operations and NYS registrations. Experience with vehicle and equipment repair vendors and ordering parts is also required. Must be able to work independently and to learn and apply new initiatives related to the automotive field.

Salary: $ 23.21/hour*

Job Requirements:

The Vehicle and Equipment Mechanic must have a high school diploma or the equivalent (Associate's degree preferred), and 3 or more years of relative experience; considerable knowledge of vehicles, how they perform when working correctly in order to diagnosis problems. Knowledge and familiarity of various equipment and tools including computerized diagnostic testing equipment is also required. Excellent communication skills are needed to interact with members of the college campus and contracted businesses.

Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and insurability at the time of appointment and must maintain such license and insurability throughout the tenure of employment.

A background screening will be required.
