Siena College Physics and Engineering Lab Manager in Loudonville, New York

The Physics and Engineering Lab Manager is responsible for supporting all physics, applied physics, and engineering laboratories offered by the Department of Physics and Astronomy, in close coordination with departmental faculty. These responsibilities span the academic year and summer months and include:

  • Setting up and breaking down the equipment needed for each scheduled lab course;

  • Appropriately testing all lab equipment (including manufacturing, fabrication, and measurement tools) ahead of time to ensure their functionality and safety;

  • Organizing all equipment, tools, astronomy, physics, and engineering demonstrations, and other materials, including maintaining an accurate digital inventory, and ordering replacement equipment and materials as needed;

  • Maintaining the hardware and software on all departmental computers, in coordination with faculty and Information Technology Services, including 3D printers;

  • Developing and maintaining an engineering lab space and maker space that aligns with the departmental transition to an ABET-accredited Engineering Physics Program.

  • Working with departmental faculty to help improve existing labs, and to develop new projects, labs, and other experiential learning experiences for students which align with departmental learning outcomes.

Furthermore, the Lab Manager teaches 12 contact hours per year of introductory-level physics and/or applied physics labs or courses.

Annual Salary: $61,500.00

Job Requirements:

A Master's Degree or higher in a Science or Engineering field

A background screening will be required.
