Description

An Ambulatory Surgery Center is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Surgery Medical Coder. This role entails an extensive review, analysis, and interpretation of surgical records to accurately assign standard codes under strict compliance regulations. In addition, some light insurance collections will be assigned.

Responsibilities:

1. Accurately review and apply appropriate ICD-10 codes and modifiers for surgical procedures and diagnoses.

2. Liaise with medical professionals to clarify unclear or inadequate documentation of surgical encounters.

3. Ensure completion of coding tasks within compliance timelines, meeting all federal, state, and payer-specific coding policies.

4. Conduct regular audits to ensure full compliance and improve process efficiency.

5. Interpret, analyze, and categorize patient information to ensure the accurate recording of medical conditions.

6. Provide ongoing education and feedback to providers relating to documentation, coding changes, and coding guidelines.

7. Maintain strict confidentiality with all sensitive health and personal information.

8. Insurance collections and follow up.

   Requirements

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Familiarity with billing functions in a healthcare setting

• Experience in ambulatory surgery billing or collection

• Medical coding knowledge and experience

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment

• Strong problem-solving and negotiation abilities

• CCS or CPC Coding License
