Overview
Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Senior Patient and Family Educator (RN) will provide leadership to the department, facilitating growth and development while organizing, directing programs in accordance to the areas strategic initiatives. In addition, the Senior Patient and Family Educator (RN) may have program financial and budget responsibilities.
The Educator responsible for assisting with the planning, implementation and evaluation of patient and family education programs at CHLA. Provides an interface between the ambulatory, hospital and community settings to ensure continuity of care and programmatic efforts that optimize patient outcomes and experience. Ensures teaching plans and education content is accessible, current, consistent, evidence-based and meets health literacy standards to improve health outcomes for a consistent patient and family experience across the CHLA Enterprise.
Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: Required: 5+ recent relevant clinical experience with a focus on patient and family education. At least 3 years working specifically as a Patent Family Educator and/or experience as a lead or charge nurse.
Pediatric experience required
Physical Demand Level: Light: Ability to lift/carry up to 20 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Frequent prolonged standing/walking. Lifts supplies and equipment. Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching. May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases.
Education/Licensure/Certification: RN Licensure in the State of California. AHA BLS/CPR Certification. BSN required. Master’s Degree Preferred.
Hours: Monday - Friday 8am to 6pm final shift will be determined based on department needs
Pay Scale Information
$104,832.00-$180,835.00

Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
