Overview
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 4:30am - 1:00pm
Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Senior Histotechnician functions with minimal direction from supervisory personnel. Responsibilities include performing routine and technically complex laboratory procedures. Activities include preparing specimens for histologic examination, operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, monitoring and evaluating the quality of tissue processing, verifying and evaluating quality control results, and resolving technical and quality control problems. Additional duties include general and administrative support functions necessary for the routine operation of the laboratory. Performs all job duties with sensitivity and attention to the age and developmental issues of the patient population being served.
Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: 5+ years experience under a qualified pathologist in preparation of anatomic pathology specimens. Strong experience embedding and microtomy in a clinical laboratory setting highly preferred. Strong working knowledge of special stains and IHC preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Windows environment, Laboratory LIS software preferred.
Education/Licensure/Certifications: Completion of clinical education program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency or an Associate degree and training at a hospital. Bachelors degree preferred. A valid certification of histotechnician by the American Society of Clinical Pathology. HT or HTL (ASCP).
Pay Scale Information
$52,208.00-$90,178.00

Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
