Position description
The UCLA Joint Institute for Regional Earth System Science and Engineering (JIFRESSE) invites applications for a position of Project Scientist whose research will specialize in data assimilation of modeling of atmospheric composition for air quality and climate research. The research will focus on and include the following activities:
• Evaluations of satellite data products, model predictions, and emission data for air quality research, such as wildfire event
• Improvement and evaluation of global atmospheric data assimilation system
• Global and regional air quality, its attribution and impact on climate and human health.
• Attend team meeting, present results at scientific conferences, and submit results for publication in peer reviewed journals.

• Appointee must possess a recent doctorate degree, in atmospheric science, earth science, or related disciplines.
• Previous training and experience in chemical transport modeling, data assimilation, and satellite data evaluation.
• Extensive knowledge and expertise in earth science data processing and analysis of large satellite and model data sets.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
