Position description
We are accepting applications to fill a postdoctoral fellow position in computational imaging applied to patient-oriented research at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Brain Mapping Center, Departments of Neurology and Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences. Specifically, we are seeking a postdoctoral candidate with expertise in functional, diffusion and/or perfusion imaging to work on a multisite NIH-funded project that is studying imaging biomarkers and cognitive profiles of patients followed prospectively while receiving electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). The project is being led by Dr. Katherine Narr, PhD. and includes collaboration with other top investigators at different institutions. The candidate would benefit from project-specific training opportunities in translational research using imaging applications and other biological and clinical and cognitive assessments, and the many extraordinary additional clinical and research training opportunities at UCLA. The candidate would have the opportunity to lead the publication of scientific findings and would receive support for career development and future independent research.
Requirements:
PhD or MD/PhD in Neuroscience, Psychology, Bioengineering or related field
Computational neuroimaging experience including knowledge of image preprocessing using standard tools (e.g. FSL, SPM) and image analysis (e.g., connectivity analyses)
Experience in using advanced statistical models, including with R or other scripting environments
Interest in mood disorders and in investigating biological markers and predictors of fast-acting treatments for mood disorders
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Application procedure:
Apply by submitting your application to our online RECRUIT system at https://recruit.apo.ucla.edu/JPF09599 along with CV, statement of research, and 3 references (optional). Screening of applicants will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
Please be advised that the final candidate recommended for hire into a critical (or otherwise designated) position will be required to successfully complete a
background investigation. Any convictions will be evaluated to determine if they directly relate to the responsibilities and requirements of the position. Having
a conviction history will not automatically disqualify an applicant from being considered for employment.
