Overview
Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Emergency Department Pharmacist is responsible for the daily organization and supervision of all drug distribution activities in the ED, attending codes and traumas, and providing education on medication related issues. The Pharmacist II is responsible for evaluating medication orders and for providing efficient, quality, cost-effective pharmaceutical care: a direct copy of each medication order is received, evaluated and processed; performs duties of a registered pharmacist as defined by law. Employee will follow applicable policies and procedures in handling supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment.
Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology as related to drug usage and common disease states. Ability to apply current pharmacological and biopharmaceutical principles for the selection and use of drug products in a clinical setting. Ability to prepare drugs for administration and to give advice on and monitor the use of drugs in a clinical setting. Knowledge of laws, regulations and standards relative to Institutional Pharmacy.
Education/Licensure/Certification: Current pharmacy licensure in the State of California. Previous ICU or ED experience preferred. BLS/PALS Certified.
Hours: 10 hour shifts, 8 on 6 off overnights
Pay Scale Information
$130,000.00-$224,130.00

Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
