UCLA Health Medical Student Coordinator - Surgery in Los Angeles, California

Description

The Department of Surgery is seeking to hire a full time Health Professional Education Specialist to act as the Medical Resident Coordinator. In this role you would manages the following:

  • Coordinate 4th year medical student electives

  • Manage visiting student applications for medical student electives through the AAMC Visiting Student Learning Opportunities(VSLO) platform;

  • Coordinate the Department of Surgery Visiting Student Scholarship Program

  • Manage all sub-internships for surgical electives

  • Assist directors with enforcing DGSOM and Department of Surgery policies related to sub-interns.

  • Provide administrative assistance when issues arise and provide back-up support to the Surgery Clerkship Coordinator and coordinate special projects as needed throughout the year for the Office of Education.

Pay Range: $32.76 - $49.65 hourlyQualifications

Required:

  • Bachelors Degree

  • Minimum one (1) year experience Admissions and recruitment management and/or Student advising.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of department, organization, and University policies, procedures, and directives.

  • Knowledge of department and school/college general and major course requirements.

  • Ability to work in diverse groups, including but not limited to students, staff, faculty, general public, and UCLA and external vendors.

  • Must be well-organized, detail-oriented and able to handle complex projects.

  • Must be capable of setting own priorities. Must be able to multi-task and focus on work in the midst of numerous interruptions and produce accurate results.

  • Excellent organizational skills, analytical, and demonstrated attention to detail.

  • Ability to complete work and meet established deadlines in an accurate and timely manner, and to manage short and competing deadlines.

  • Knowledge of educational software and platforms. Demonstrated ability to analyze and seek solutions to enhance the user experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement processes, guidelines, and/or systems to improve efficiency and procedure.

  • Synthesize information from a variety of sources for compiling and/or presenting information for learners

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree in a related area highly preferred.
