Pay Range: $75000 - $90000 / year
This is a remote position that can sit anywhere in the U.S.
Position Summary
The HSE Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the coordination, tracking, and compliance of the company’s safety programs and providing direct support to the Regional Safety Professionals across multiple business units within the Railworks enterprise. This role is integral to continuously improving the safety culture and ensuring that HSE standards are consistently met.
Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties
• Interface across a matrixed organization, coordinating with various departments, business units, and companies to ensure seamless safety program implementation and adherence to policies.
• Develop, implement, and maintain safety and environmental systems, policies, and procedures in line with industry standards and company goals, recommending technical adjustments when needed.
• Develop and lead cross-functional initiatives and integrate processes into daily operations to ensure the long-term success of a continuously improving safety culture.
• Drive consistent safety messaging and campaigns, ensuring effective communication with a decentralized, mobile workforce.
• Interpret new and existing local, state, and federal safety regulations, ensuring actions are taken to maintain compliance with all relevant regulatory agencies and company requirements.
• Compile, analyze, and interpret safety data, identifying trends and potential areas for improvement.
• Assist with managing and tracking safety training programs, ensuring timely completion and effectiveness across all departments, and assist with the creation of educational materials to enhance workforce knowledge and compliance.
• Oversee incident reporting to ensure accurate documentation including effectiveness of corrective actions.
• Perform audits of employee testing information and safety documentation, ensuring compliance with company policies, drug & alcohol regulations, and client prequalification platforms (e.g., ISNetworld, Avetta).
• Enter and maintain safety-related data from multiple sources into centralized databases, including JD Edwards and Success Factors, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Maintain the confidentiality of all safety data, records, and employee information as required by company policies and regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the continuous improvement of safety programs and ensure ongoing regulatory compliance.
Required Skills and Qualifications
• Minimum 3-5 years in a safety coordinator or related EHS role.
• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety & health or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, safety management systems, and industry best practices.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to lead investigations, develop corrective actions, and manage complex projects.
• Experience with data entry systems such as JD Edwards, Success Factors, ISNetworld, Avetta, and other safety management tools.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to adapt to evolving safety regulations and maintain compliance across diverse operations.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
• Regular interaction with various teams across the company, including field operations, safety, and management.
• Works primarily in an office environment.
• Frequently sits for long periods of time.
• Frequently speaks, reads, writes, and uses a computer keyboard.
• May require occasional standing, walking, lifting, stooping, or bending.
• Occasional travel for internal audits, inspections, and assisting with training sessions.
