Summary This position is funded through Medical Research Services-Health Services Research & Development (HSR&D), Center for the Study of Healthcare Innovation, Implementation and Policy (CSHIIP) in Research Service, based at West Los Angeles and Sepulveda Ambulatory Care Center & Nursing Home within the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System and provides administrative functions to the Program Investigator. Responsibilities THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION Duties include but may not be limited to: Outlines and defines tasks required to complete each phase of the project. Acts in the place of the Project Investigator communicating project progress and needs with projects officers. Works with the project team to initiate, track, and compile documentation necessary to obtain IRB (Institutional Review Board) approval. Expense reporting, reimbursement management, ordering project supplies and materials, as well as other miscellaneous administrative tasks. Assist in identifying and validating appropriate data elements to include in chart review of electronic medical record (EMR) excerpts. Seeks to cost-effectively meet or exceed compliance with Federal, State, and local environmental, public health and resource protection laws, regulations and VA requirements. Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm NOTE: This is a TERM appointment (not-to-exceed 1 year and 1 day). Term appointments are non-status, nonpermanent appointments of limited duration (more than 1 year but not more than 4). Term employees are eligible to earn leave and generally have the same benefits as permanent employees including health and life insurance, within-grade increases and Federal Employees Retirement System and Thrift Savings Plan coverage. Term appointments may be extended without further competition (up to the 4 year maximum). Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS To apply for this position, you must have the following qualifications: REQUIRED EDUCATION A Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: Major study in academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained. Along with the above requirement you must also possess the following. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS 7) in Federal Service that includes performing the following duties: Coordinates the dissemination, compilation and organization of all administrative aspects of the project (to include management of correspondence and complex project database maintenance and tracking).; Provide other administrative tasks including administrative support for the Director of the Program, Program staff, and Project Investigators.; Tracks cost distribution allocations to ensure that study funds and resources are spent appropriately and timely.; Screens eligible candidates for quality evaluation according to inclusion and exclusion criteria using medical record abstraction techniques. -OR- SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): Successful completion 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree OR master's or equivalent graduate degree. -OR- COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate-level education (beyond 18 semester hours) and specialized experience, as described above, which meet the total experience requirements for this grade level.
