Menzies Aviation Fuel Facility Manager - Aircraft Fuel Farm in Los Angeles, California

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Fuel Facility Manager will have accountability and oversight for all station-based operations. The role will have accountability for operational performance, safety, security & compliance, ensuring KPI targets are achieved in line with budget and performance specifications. Working with Business Leaders, the post holder will also define strategy and commercial activity including customer satisfaction at existing locations, new business targets and business development opportunities including organic growth and new location openings. You will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of the station, ensuring safe and secure operational performance, customer satisfaction and delivery of all agreed operational KPI’s. Assist contractors with required operational details to ensure the LAXFUEL Integration Project does not impair functional systems.

Salary: $130,000.00 - $160,000.00 (Commensurate with experience)

Bonus: 15% annually

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety, Security and Operational Excellence

  • Revise and implement all quality assurance procedures as necessary ensuring all system test frequencies meet or exceed ATA 103 requirements.

  • Number one focus of delivering safe and secure operations for our customer and our people, working within our global safety, security, and compliance framework.

  • Lead the delivery of the best customer focused operations through engaging our teams, utilizing key performance metric data, embracing new and innovative technology.

  • Improve service levels to top quartile and ensure services suite is fully integrated and reliable.

  • Work with operational excellence team (IT) to ensure new systems and processes are successfully implemented and embedded across the region delivering forecast efficiencies and improved performance.

  • Leadership & Performance Monitoring

  • Provide clear leadership to the Operational team through direction and effective coaching to drive performance and achieve financial, operational and customer service targets and employee engagement.

  • Take an active role in monitoring and improving the engagement levels and culture across the region.

  • Provide regular updates on financial performance and overall business outlook to key stakeholders and the Americas Leadership team.

  • Provide clear and visible leadership to the division, building rapport and interacting effectively at all levels of the organization.

  • As a member of the Americas Executive team, contribute broadly to the operational and strategic development of the region.

    Qualifications

College Education preferably with technical experience and background in the Petrol chemical field or related terminal operations management.

The Facility Manager must be both commercially and technically astute with a keen attention to detail and highly familiar with a large, hourly paid workforce. They will be highly numerate and have strong communication and interpersonal skills as the job involves frequent interactions with Senior Leadership and different stakeholders, both internal and external.

They need to be entrepreneurial, a self-starter, comfortable in a fast-paced environment, results-oriented, and able to get things done without over-reliance on structures and processes.

They must be resilient and ready to respond to and resolve escalated operational issues 24/7 with airline customers across the Region, utilizing the regional and global structures and operating models and ensuring compliance with them.

  • Demonstrable operational hands-on cargo product management and business development experience.

  • Demonstrable experience of the airlines industry.

  • Experience of working in complex organizations with a global footprint and diverse structures.

  • Degree-level education highly desirable.

Experience and Training

Eight (8) weeks required to learn details of job. Six (6) months required to perform the job with minimum of supervision. Experience on the job requires learning responsibilities to all phases of the LAXFUEL fuel operations system. It is extremely important to understand LAXFUEL’s established guidelines / procedures and ensure and provide strong management skills to ensure that they are adhered to.

  • Focus on building long-term key relationships with the key airport authorities.

  • Proactively search to identify new business opportunities across the region.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with arms, climb or balance; and talk or hear.

The individual must also be able to open and close large value on 16" product delivery pipelines quickly. Opening and closing these values involves twisting and pulling motion and sometimes considerable physical exertion. Other tasks include digging and shoveling, such as snow removal around equipment and office. Employee may also engage in debris removal which involves lifting,

bending, and stooping. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.

Additional Requirements and SKILLS: Must be able to meet all requirements necessary to obtain an airport ID badge. Maintain a valid California Driver’s License. Position requires occasional AOA (Airport Operations Area) driving and must complete and pass the Airport Authority Driving Permit process. Failure to maintain a valid Driver’s License, obtain an airport ID badge and pass the AOA drivers exam may subject your continual employment.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license in good standing.

  • Must be available and flexible to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays.

  • Must pass driver’s test with the Department of Airports and obtain a driver’s license to drive on Airport Operational Area (AOA).

  • Must pass FBI background check and obtain US Customs seal.
