The USC Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences is seeking a Financial Analyst in the Dornsife Business Office The largest and oldest of the USC schools, USC Dornsife functions as the academic core of the university, offering courses and advancing knowledge across the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences.

Background

The Decision Support Department, established three years ago, plays a pivotal role in the school by providing critical decision support to both the educational institution and its executive leadership team. The department's primary objective is to empower the school in achieving its strategic mission and supporting its operational units through rigorous quantitative analysis. By delivering data-driven insights and analyses, the Decision Support Department ensures that key decisions are informed, effective, and aligned with the school's long-term goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Data Wrangling (Extract, Prep, Transform)

  • Aggregating, calculating, transforming, and converting data

  • Ensuring data accuracy and relevance

  • Creating Visualizations

  • Distributing visual insights to stakeholders via multiple methods

  • Making data accessible and understandable

  • Data Security and Compliance

  • Safeguarding sensitive information

  • Ensuring adherence to data security protocols

  • Creating Dashboards and Ad Hoc Reports

  • Utilizing tools like Tableau, Power BI, Power Query, and Excel

  • Presenting data in formats tailored to the school and its leadership

    List of preferred qualifications:

  • Understanding of Financial Datasets

  • Proficient in Tableau

  • Understanding of Databases

  • Working knowledge of R (or Python)

  • Knowledge of Workday Financials

  • Proficient in Data Transformation or Wrangling

    Salary range: The annual base salary range for this position is $93,843 - $116,219. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
