Summary About the Position: This position is with the 79th Sustainment Support Command, 311th Mission Support Element, 311th Expeditionary Support Command located in Los Angeles, California. Responsibilities Responsible for effective management of day-to-day administration. Manage Full Time Support (FTS) personnel which encompasses a wide range of military ranks and civilian graded employees. Monitor Force Development/Management to support readiness. Manage civilian hiring practices across the command. Resolve management-employee problems and complaints. Effect disciplinary measures for civilian employees with in policies aid guidelines. Develop performance standards for military and civilian employees. Exercise supervision over the day to day activities of a full-time staff of military and civilian employees. Provide technical guidance to the staff in areas such as training administration, personnel resource management, logistics management and public relations. Serve as the principal advisor to the Commanding General on policy matters relative to Army Reserve programs, training, and operations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes coordinating military operations in the areas of organizational administration, military/civilian personnel, resource management, logistics management, and public relations to advise Command leaders on military programs and on Command missions; delegating work; placing and interviewing candidates; counseling/evaluating employees and/or dealing with disciplinary actions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some Federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and Management Knowledge Management Leadership Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. As a supervisor, you must comply with the Army Civilian Education System (CES) course and timeline requirements. The Supervisory Development Course (SDC) must be completed within one year of placement into a supervisory position and then completed as a refresher course every three years. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest. Term Appointment NTE - Position may be filled as a Term Appointment NTE [specific date or number of years]. Term appointments may be extended beyond of six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, Term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years.
