The Tarjan Center is seeking to hire a part time limited Administrative Officer 2 to complete the duties of Advocate Liaison. Under the Direction of the Director of Operations, you will help build a network of advocates for the UCLA Tarjan Center. In addition, this position is charged with assisting and supporting the work of the Tarjan-LEND Leadership Academy. Your work for the Academy will consist of preparing materials and presentations for an undergraduate course in Autism and Neurodiversity; and providing community outreach and advocacy involving individuals with disabilities. In this role you will be responsible for helping develop ideas for the Tarjan Annual Forum and Summit that will include icons with Autism. Outreach will include presentations at state and local meetings/ events and other activities directed by the Tarjan Center leadership.

Please note that this limited position may convert to career.

Pay Range: $31.20 - $49.77 hourly

Qualifications

Required:

• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with Tarjan Center Faculty and Staff.

• Excellent public speaking and group facilitation skills.

• Collaborative team working style with ability to relate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.

• Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of the Tarjan Center.

• At least 5 years of experience in advocacy and community organizing.

Preferred:

• Firsthand knowledge of self-advocacy in California.

• Utilize and understand Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.

• Ability to compose and write emails.

• Familiarity with concepts and stigma of disability and other issues facing people with disabilities.
