What You Will Do
Infrastructure Service Division (ISD) is seeking an energetic and customer-focused Computing Systems Professional 2 for the Programmatic Services (ISD-PS) Group: Windows Server team. ISD-PS consists of approximately 85 professionals, technicians, and students. ISD division is responsible for the desktop and server support for computing environments at the Laboratory. The division is organized around various server support teams that are focused on supporting unclassified and classified programmatic and mission support needs, and a technical services group that provides the enterprise level configuration management services for these computing environments .
As a Computing Systems Professional 2 in ISD-PS, you will be part of a dynamic team providing system administration support to customers across the Laboratory. You will be responsible for managing and maintaining a variety of systems, including Windows servers and desktop systems. Other key duties will include installing, configuring, and troubleshooting servers, workstations, and network issues within a diverse IT environment. You will also implement and manage Windows-based solutions tailored to customer workstation needs and support virtual server/client environments.
Additionally, you will resolve customer support issues through both remote and onsite assistance, automating routine tasks with programming and scripting techniques. Troubleshooting network problems such as file shares and authentication issues will also be essential. Other responsibilities include building and maintaining servers for multiple networks, utilizing tools like Active Directory, SCCM for configuration management, and network monitoring tools such as Terminus or Nessus.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Intermediate knowledge of and experience with Windows Servers.
Advanced knowledge of Windows desktops, including configurations and troubleshooting.
Knowledge of enterprise configuration management tools.
Experience providing customer service.
Experience using a formal ticket management system.
Education/Experienc e: Position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of 4 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge of formal system hardening practices.
Proficiency with configuration management tools, such as SCCM.
Knowledge of application servers/license servers.
Experience working in Virtual Desktop Infrastructures (VDI).
Experience with ActiveDirectory.
Experience with Linux (preferably RHEL).
Active DOE Q-Clearance.
Work Environment:
Work Location : The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 (https://directives.nnsa.doe.gov/supplemental-directive/sd-0206-0002) . Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
