What You Will Do
The Program Project Interface (PPI) Division is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Group Leader (Project-Program Director 5) for the Line-Item Program Representation (PPI-2) Group. In this leadership role, you will oversee and manage a diverse portfolio of infrastructure line-item projects, including but not limited to West Entry Control Facility (WECF), Training Development Center (TDC), East Emergency Vehicle Access (EEVA), West Vehicle Access (WVA), Post 116, Post 118, LAP4 30 Diamonds (30 Base), LAP4 30 Reliable (30R), CMRR PF-4 Equipment Installation Phase 2 Project (PEI2), TA-55 Reinvestment Project Phase 3 (TRPIII), Transuranic Liquid Waste (TLW), and Pu Modernization Initiatives.
Reporting directly to the PPI Division Leader, you will lead a team of 40 technical subject matter experts. PPI-2 supports key areas such as equipment installation, Earned Value Management System (EVMS), Project/Program Management, Decontamination & Decommissioning (D&D), and Transition to Operations/Production (TTO/TTP) at TA-55 facilities. Key responsibilities include managing scope, cost, and schedule for individual project elements, leading integration across capital construction projects, ensuring program/user requirements are met from planning through operational transition, engaging with stakeholders, including senior LANL management, Los Alamos Site Office, and federal leadership (NA-191, NA-95, NA-70, NA-123), and representing ALDWP program owners and participate in Integrated Project Teams (IPTs) to align objectives with mission goals.
This high-impact position requires strategic collaboration with LANL senior leadership and partners across various directorates, including ALDPI, ALDWP, ALDICP, and DDW.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Project Management: Proven expertise in strategic planning, advocacy, and managing capital line-item programs/projects in compliance with Earned Value Management System (EVMS) standards. Skilled in building and strengthening organizational relationships to support ALDWP/ALDPI programs. Adept at providing leadership and tactical planning for project execution, risk identification, and development of mitigation strategies and corrective actions.
Technical Leadership: Extensive technical experience in nuclear facility operations, including safety, safeguards and security, radiation protection, waste management, criticality safety, and quality assurance. Demonstrated success in managing the design, installation, and startup of programmatic equipment and gloveboxes, including meeting self-assessment requirements.
Management: Strong background in workforce planning, including headcount management, budgeting, recruitment, employee performance management, retention, mentorship, and growth opportunities. Experience leading sensitive ALDWP projects and facilities with multi-level security requirements.
Communication and Collaboration: Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Experienced in interfacing with NNSA, LASO, and LANL senior management. Proficient in effective decision-making and problem-solving to achieve organizational goals.
Desired Qualifications:
Demonstrated hands-on working experience in a Hazard Category 2 Nuclear Facility (e.g., TA-55, PF-4, CMR).
Demonstrated familiarity with DOE O 413.3B and the ALDWP Equipment Lifecycle Guide.
Familiarity and hands on experience with AP-122 and DOE O 425.1D and the Management Self-
Assessments (MSA), Contractor Readiness Assessments (CRA), and Federal Readiness Assessments (FRA) processes.
Demonstrated knowledge of capital line-item project requirements and implementation processes.
Active Q-Clearance; participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP).
Education/Experience Project-Program Director 5: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 12 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Work Location: The work location for this position is hybrid and is located in Los Alamos, NM. Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite/partially offsite but within 2 hours ground commute of this location. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 (https://directives.nnsa.doe.gov/supplemental-directive/sd-0206-0002) . Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, ยง712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Incentive Compensation Program: Position is eligible to participate in the Triad Incentive Compensation Program. You must be in an eligible position for a minimum of 3 months, before July 1st and remain in an eligible position as of the end of the fiscal year, September 30th. The annual distribution is prorated based on the number of months in the eligible position.
