What You Will Do
The Procurement Engineering & Acquisitions Management Group (SCL-1) within the Weapons Production Directorate is seeking a highly organized, self-motivated and customer service driven Material Status Specialist (Production Control Specialist 2). The selected candidate will effectively and compliantly review and track Construction and Equipment Installation related procurement activities. Tasks will include but are not limited to: corresponding with suppliers and customers, tracking and expediting materials, tracking inventory data and performing data quality reviews in various procurement tracking software systems. The Material Status Specialists of SCL-1 play an integral role in ensuring Lab-wide milestones and deliverables are met.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Functionality
Demonstrates ability to comply with industry practices, policies, and procedures specifically relating to procurement and quality.
Proven record of reliability and follow through on assigned tasks.
Experience in material management.
Proven record of using independent judgment and initiative to prepare reports for various customers by reviewing procurement related databases and documentation.
Proven ability to analyze large volumes of data and perform quality checks for accuracy and identify areas for process improvements.
Computing/Business Systems
Above average computer skills and demonstrated proficient experience with relational databases and Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Access, SharePoint and inventory management software.
Customer Service
Exceptional customer service skills. Proven ability to provide clear, concise guidance to others in sometimes-stressful situations. Experience interacting professionally with all types of personnel, including external vendors and executive management.
Communication
Demonstrated written and oral communication skills in a customer service-related setting. Ability to tactfully communicate findings and make recommendations.
Creative Problem Solving
Demonstrated ability to offer innovative solutions while remaining compliant with governing policies or rules.
Organizational Skills
Possess high attention to detail. Demonstrated organizational skills, analytical thinking, and observational skills. Proven ability to multi-task and adjust to the workings of a dynamic and cohesive fast-paced team environment.
Education/Experience
Position requires 5 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience utilizing multiple procurement and inventory control systems
Experience managing inventory or purchasing material in a high-regulated environment
Awareness and willingness to learn supply chain management practices
Experience tracking and expediting material and providing frequent status updates
Awareness and willingness to learn industry quality drivers (NAP401.1, NQA-1, etc.)
Active DOE Q clearance
Work Location: The work location for this position is hybrid and has locations in Los Alamos and Santa Fe, New Mexico. Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite (up to 80%) and partially offsite within a 2-hour ground commute to LANL's main campus in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Onsite attendance is expected for this position and is not considered a Telework or Remote position. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 (https://directives.nnsa.doe.gov/supplemental-directive/sd-0206-0002) . Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
