Position Summary:

As a PFT Respiratory Therapist, this position will perform diagnostic testing such as full Pulmonary Function Tests, VO2 MAX, and Spirometry testing.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Setting up, maintaining and operating the PFT system.
  • Assessing patients and correctly recognizing and interpreting respiratory dysfunction.
  • Delivering and assessing response to ordered therapy per plan of care.
  • Monitoring, recording, and communicating patient condition as appropriate.
  • Disassembling, cleaning, and sterilizing equipment, and performing preventative maintenance and calibration of machines.
  • Evaluating respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.
  • Educating the patient and family about the patient's illness and providing information about community support groups and other resources.
  • Monitoring, receiving, stocking, and distributing respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders, and maintaining storage areas with required supply levels and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • License: Current licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state of New Mexico
  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) upon hire
  • Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
