Los Alamos National Laboratory Nuclear Weapons Cyber Assurance IT Project Manager (IT Project Manager 2/3) in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
This position will be filled at either the IT Project Manager 2 or 3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.

The Secure Networks and Assurances Group in the Weapons Research Services Division is looking for an experienced Information Technology Project Manager (ITPM) to join our team. The ITPM will work closely with the nuclear weapons Cyber Assurance Laboratory (NWCAL) Director and Program Manager to ensure that NWCAL's strategic objectives are executed. The ITPM will collaborate with the Nuclear Enterprise Assurance (NEA) Program and Project Managers to ensure NEA requirements and tasking are met in a timely and quality manner. The ITPM will also manage the exchange of technical information between the (NWCAL) and other organizations to include various universities, and other DOE sites, plants, and laboratories. Finally, the ITPM will work with core NWCAL staff to ensure NWCAL projects and operations are conducted in a safe, secure, quality, and timely manner.
NWCAL IT Project Manager 2 $92,300 - $151,000
Experience providing tactical planning for the execution of complex project(s) and applies technical or operational knowledge and experience to achieve project objectives. Advanced knowledge of technical or operational project management, including developing project plans and work breakdown structures, managing to scope, schedule and budget. This will include managing operational assessments, interfacing with program directors, coordinating response events, and working with the NWCAL Program manager on budget and personnel forecasting.
Experience tracking milestones, objectives, and deliverables across NWCAL's portfolio. This includes monthly, quarterly, semiannual, and annual metrics, quad-charts, and other forms of communication to multiple program offices (DDW, GS, NNSA/CIO, etc.). Identifies potential project risks, developing risk mitigation strategies with leadership and SMEs, and recommending risk avoidance for all aspects of the project(s).
NWCAL IT Project Manager 3 $112,000 - $186,700
Wide-ranging experience providing tactical planning for the execution of complex project(s) and applies advanced technical or operational knowledge and experience to achieve project objectives. Expert knowledge of technical or operational project management, including developing project plans and work breakdown structures, managing to scope, schedule and budget. Minimum Job Requirements:
Technical Knowledge
Demonstrated ability to work independently with a wide range of technical and non-technical managers and customers. Ability to work across the laboratory with various organizations (FOD, ASM, I&T, S&S, ISSM, ISSOs, DSOs, ESOs) to enable project execution with high quality.
Familiarity with manufacturing systems, cyber physical systems, software development and assurance, or other operational technology; cryptosystem and/or other applied cryptography.
Customer Service
The successful candidate will be able to help integrate NWCAL efforts with multiple intelligence community components and facilitate timely and relevant intelligence reporting and information is available to the operational team to help inform assurance activities.
Organizational Skills
Demonstrated aility to successfully plan, organize, lead, and monitor team efforts to completion.
Communication
Demonstrated ability to communicate program requirement to various stakeholders. Excellent written and verbal communication and listening skills.

Education/Experience at IT Project Manager level 2:
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field and 4 years of experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Education/Experience at IT Project Manager level 3:
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field and 8 years of experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:
Degree in IT related field
Project Management Certification
Ability to work in a classified environment, advanced knowledge and demonstrated experience working on both unclassified and classified systems.
Demonstrated experience and interest of emerging computing technologies including cyber systems, operational technology, and software assurance.
Demonstrated experience in developing and nurturing effective mid to high level internal and external customer relationships.
Experience managing teams and optimizing workflows.
Familiar with security assessments of secure facilities and/or systems of systems.
High level understanding of the LANL weapons program
High level understanding of classified information
Active DOE "Q" clearance
Work Environment:
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 (https://directives.nnsa.doe.gov/supplemental-directive/sd-0206-0002) . Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. Incentive Compensation Program: Position is eligible to participate in the Triad Incentive Compensation Program. You must be in an eligible position for a minimum of 3 months, before July 1st and remain in an eligible position as of the end of the fiscal year, September 30th. The annual distribution is prorated based on the number of months in the eligible position.
