Summary About the Position: This position is with the Army Reserve Aviation Command, Aviation Support Facility Los Alamitos West, located at Los Alamitos, California. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Aircraft Mechanic Supervisor without more than normal supervision. Applicants must meet the screen out elements to be considered further. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience in the following: ability to assign tasks to subordinates, review work, investigate work related problems, make decisions in regard to equipment, supply and maintenance needs, interview individuals, identify employee training needs and maintain production reports and records. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Ability to lead or supervise Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Physical Effort: Work is performed on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Attendant frequently lifts and carries tools, parts, supplies, and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Handtrucks, dollies, and forklifts are available for use in handling heavier items. Working Conditions: Works in aircraft hangar which is well lighted, fairly clean, and well heated but occasionally drafty and noisy. There is some possibility of minor cuts and bruises. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. One year supervisory probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. As a supervisor, you must comply with the Army Civilian Education System (CES) course and timeline requirements. The Supervisory Development Course (SDC) must be completed within one year of placement into a supervisory position.
