Lower Columbia College Environmental Control Technician (Part-Time) in Longview, Washington

This position is responsible for supporting the EHS team in ensuring that all regulatory requirements in the area of environmental compliance are met. This person must be able to complete certifications in dangerous waste shipping (CFR 49) and dangerous waste management. Job duties include (but are not limited) conducting inspections, organizing waste storage facilities and coordinating with contractors. This position reports to the Director of Environmental Health & Safety.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities
- Carry and handle heavy materials and equipment including hazardous chemicals, testing and sampling equipment, and instrumentation.
- Tour campus with contractors and regulators
- Complete routine inspections of areas where waste is generated/stored
- Push heavy objects such as drums with the dolly, or large batteries
- Access uneven and narrow spaces to collect environmental samples
- Respond to chemical spills
- Transferring acutely hazardous materials across campus and within storage areas

Typical Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience in environmental science or related field (field experience or coursework is acceptable);
Ability to become OSHA, DOT and RCRA certified upon hire;
Customer service;
Attention to detail;
Other duties as assigned.
