This position is a leader and change agent who will develop, enhance, support, and implement critically important student support resources. The responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, establishing student-focused DEI support services, managing the diversity and equity center, developing and maintaining programs and services that directly support student retention and engagement and enhance the student experience and sense of belonging. Reporting to the Executive Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, the Assistant Director will support the college's efforts in creating a welcoming and inclusive culture for our campus community.   *Who you are: *The Assistant Director will have a strong passion for disrupting systemic barriers and supporting diverse individuals, demonstrate a deep understanding of DEI best practices, and possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. The Assistant Director is a strategic catalyst who enjoys innovating and collaborating with others, and successfully develops partnerships across campus. The Assistant Director position is 40 hours per week. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, but includes nights, weekend, and over-night student travel as the program necessitates. This position provides direct student support and is primarily an on-site position, with limited ability to work remote/hybrid. This position is exempt under FLSA and reports to the Executive Director of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion. Examples of Duties & Responsibilities

 

Oversee and support student DEI initiatives, including the oversight and maintenance of the Diversity and Equity Center, expansion of DEI programming and activities, and community support 

Co-advise and partner with the ASLCC Diversity and Equity Director to develop programming that takes place in the Diversity and Equity Center and across campus

Develop and implement a cultural, interpersonal, and identity focused year-round programming model

Establish a sense of inclusion and belonging in the Diversity and Equity Center

Develop, implement, and facilitate professional and personal development trainings to support students

Provide support and serve as a visible ally to our campus community

Develop peer mentoring training curriculum in partnership with campus partners

Facilitate conversations around various equity & inclusion topics with students

Support the Executive Director in developing, implementing, and evaluating its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) strategic plan, including ensuring compliance with state mandated DEI efforts, and cultivating engagement of the strategic initiatives at all levels of the organization.
