Job Overview:
The Infection Prevention and Control Coordinator will be responsible for prevention of hospital-onset infections through promoting best practices/evidenced based guidelines, and education of patients, staff and the community. Other responsibilities include surveillance, data collection, and public reporting. The Coordinator will be working closely with the clinical staff to promote patient safety. The IC Coordinator will report infection rates and statistics internally and externally to NHSN/CDC and be responsible for working with the state and local health departments on prevention and reporting of communicable diseases to the NJDOH Communicable Disease Reporting System (CDRSS). The IC Coordinator will perform audits to ensure compliance with regulatory and infection prevention requirements and assist clinical departments with survey readiness. The IC Coordinator participates in Environmental Rounds, prepares Infection Control Risk Assessments for all construction projects and works closely with the Safety, Facilities and Environmental Services Departments to help to facilitate a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor s Degree in Nursing or Medical Technology.
Certification by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology preferred or commitment to attain certification upon 2 years experience in Infection Prevention and Control.
Scheduling Requirements:
Shift working, 9:00 5:00 each day
