Patient Registration Specialist in the Emergency Department!

We are looking for a dedicated, detail-oriented professional to join our fast-paced healthcare team. If you excel under pressure and are passionate about delivering compassionate, high-quality service, this role is for you. As a key player in our Emergency Department, you will help ensure patients experience a seamless registration process that sets the tone for their care journey. This position offers a stable weekday schedule with occasional weekend shifts.

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday: 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM

  • Rotating Saturdays (as scheduled)

Core Responsibilities:

  • Warmly welcome patients and visitors to create a positive, supportive environment.

  • Accurately collect, verify, and input patient information, including demographics, insurance details, and consent documents.

  • Efficiently manage patient registration and check-in workflows to support smooth operations.

  • Provide clear information to patients regarding appointments, insurance, and billing inquiries.

  • Collaborate with Emergency Department staff to optimize patient flow and reduce wait times wherever possible.

  • Uphold strict confidentiality of patient data in compliance with HIPAA standards.

  • Communicate with insurance carriers to confirm coverage and handle pre-authorization needs.

  • Perform administrative tasks such as organizing patient records, scheduling follow-ups, and resolving billing discrepancies.

  • Support emergency triage by prioritizing registrations according to patient urgency.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required); some college or healthcare-related coursework is a plus.

  • Previous experience in patient registration, medical office administration, or a similar role preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on customer service.

  • Proficient computer skills, including experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively under pressure in a high-volume environment.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance processes, and HIPAA compliance (preferred).

  • Availability to work rotating Saturdays as part of the schedule.
