Position Summary
The Older Adults Program Coordinator oversees the creation, implementation, and execution of older adult programing and events as coordinated with the Red Shield Program Director. These programs and events include, but are not limited to, annual gatherings, weekly programming, external (partnership) programs, and various other special or coordinated events. It is the responsibility of Older Adult Program Coordinator to oversee the schedules and placement of the necessary staff to execute an older adult program or event, and ensure details related to the program and events are managed in accordance with the policies and processes of The Salvation Army, a California Corporation.
Essential Functions
Create, schedule, and implement older adult based programming to both encourage social comradery and stimulate neural engagement with older adults.
Work with outside parties interested in participating in older adult programs or events with the Long Beach Red Shield and coordinate with interdepartmental staff to execute these undertakings accordingly.
Obtain all necessary information about interested programs and events participants and process accordingly.
Coordinate fundraising ideas, events, or pathways (grants, community funding, savings portals) with Director of Programs and Development
Oversee and meet with assigned staff schedules and responsibilities and ensure training, certifications, and required documentation is up to date and recorded appropriately.
Must be aware of, implement, and observe all necessary Older Adult Safety (Protecting the Mission) policies.
Promote older adult programming and membership opportunities.
Assist in the employee processes of assigned staff.
Track frequency of work activities to flow into monthly statistical reporting system of The Salvation Army as well as be retrievable on the basis or type of service rendered.
Oversee the compliance of all Salvation Army safety regulations and client confidentiality as it may relate to activities involving older adult programs.
Other duties as assigned by Corps Officer or Red Shield Program Director within the scope of the position.
Working Conditions
Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of three (3) years of experience in multi-faceted Program-centric business activities and administration; or equivalent relevant experience in Salvation Army management positions.
Associate degree in related field preferred.
Proficiency in preparing budgets.
Proficiency in program development for older adults
The successful candidate will have a broad-spectrum skills set including managerial proficiency, public speaking, staff management and written communication expertise.
Be able to pass all required courses and training associated to the position.
