Workplace Financial Services (WFS) is a growing enterprise at Charles Schwab. Workplace Marketing supports the WFS enterprise in unlocking growth across three business lines: Retirement Plan Services, Stock Plan Participant Services, and Designated Brokerage Services. Our organization plays a critical role in driving top-line growth for the enterprise, helping participants engage with their plan benefits through communications, and bridging participants of plans to solutions across Schwab.

The Strategy, Planning, and Transformation (SPT) team resides in Workplace Marketing focused on critical initiatives that help strategically scale our organization and support the growth of WFS, while playing a connector role in aligning Marketing resources against business priorities. This role is pivotal in in transforming our organization in a high-paced, high-change environment to enable marketing to be more effective and efficient in the way we work in a matrixed environment, partnering with stakeholders such as Client Experience, Offer Management, Strategy, and other business line partners.

The position is responsible for

  • Owning the annual strategic plan – Orchestrating strategic planning for our organization, managing our planning portfolio and making recommendations on initiative prioritization and resource allocation to the leadership team

  • Aligning our work to the most important priorities – Deeply understand business priorities and strategy to make recommendations on the annual strategic marketing plan and portfolio to achieve OKRs

  • Strategic resource management – Work closely with the Director of the SPT and Managing Director of Workplace Marketing to plan resources and budget to effectively support priorities against a fixed capacity model

  • Proactive relationship building – Forging and developing close relationships with peers, partners, and subject matter experts that help organically garner buy-in on priorities and tradeoffs

What you'll do

  • Own the facilitation of Workplace Marketing’s annual planning process, initiative portfolio, and budget allocation, closely collaborating across Marketing, Workplace Financial Services, and Retail enterprises for input and centralized planning activities

  • Intimately understand the work our organization does and how resources are utilized to identify synergistic opportunities across projects, including finding efficiency opportunities in our budget

  • Facilitate ongoing Steering Committees meetings, planning working sessions, and other critical planning meetings that lead to decision making and alignment

  • Independently forge and strengthen relationships with partners and peers through ongoing one-on-ones and working sessions to resolve open issues

  • Become one of the primary points of contact on the SPT team for intaking new strategic initiatives and managing our opportunity backlog

  • Develop structure and routines for our organization that improves our overall operating model through planning and resource orchestration

  • Write compelling executive presentations and materials across that help articulate our strategy, impact, and garner business investment on resourcing gaps

What you have

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of work experience, including 3+ years of experience from a top consulting firm, strategy role in large organization, or similar strategic planning role

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Strong communication skills and with high-level of comfort leading meetings and facilitating very active working sessions, especially with senior and more experienced leaders

  • Ability to navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment while introducing structure and frameworks for problem-solving

  • Excellent collaborator who thrives on working with others in a matrixed organizational environment

  • Active listener who can synthesize many details and is not afraid to “go into the weeds” to solve problems

  • Self-starter mindset with a willingness to jump in and learn, make quick decisions, and pivot towards better solutions when needed

  • Flexible and comfortable with change as business and organization is undergoing transformation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA; Post-graduate degree

  • Knowledge of marketing organizations and financial services industry experience

CO Salary Range: USD $107,000 - $178,000 / Year
