How does this role contribute to our collective success?

This role will be responsible for the strategic direction, development, and management of the London Tech E&O, Media Liability and Intellectual Property insurance portfolios. This role involves leading a team of underwriters, driving product innovation, and ensuring the profitability and growth of the Tech E&O line.

What will you do in this role?

  1. Strategic Leadership:
  • Develop and execute a strategic plan to expand the Tech E&O, Media and IP insurance business.

  • Identify market trends and emerging risks in the technology sector to inform product development and pricing strategies.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align the Tech E&O, Media and IP strategies with the overall business objectives.

  1. Product Development and Innovation:
  • Lead the design and development of new Tech E&O, Media and IP products, as well as other developing intangible products (eg. Trade Secrets), to meet the evolving needs of clients

  • Work closely with actuarial, legal, and regulatory teams to ensure compliance and competitiveness of products.

  • Drive innovation in coverage offerings, policy terms, and underwriting processes.

  1. Underwriting and Risk Management:
  • Oversee the underwriting process for Tech E&O, Media and IP policies ensuring adherence to company guidelines and risk appetite.

  • Develop and maintain underwriting guidelines, ensuring they are up-to-date with current industry standards and legal requirements.

  • Evaluate and approve large or complex risks, providing guidance to the underwriting team.

  1. Team Leadership and Development:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of underwriters and support staff.

  • Foster a collaborative and results-driven culture within the team.

  • Provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities for team members.

  1. Client and Broker Relationships:
  • Cultivate strong relationships with brokers, clients, and industry partners to elevate Axis’ market presence.

  • Participate in client and broker meetings, presenting the company’s Tech E&O, Media and IP offerings and negotiating terms.

  • Address and resolve complex client and broker issues effectively.

  1. Financial Performance:
  • Monitor the financial performance of the Tech E&O, Media and IP portfolios, including profitability, growth, and loss ratios.

  • Implement corrective actions as necessary to achieve financial targets.

  • Prepare and present financial reports to senior management.

  1. Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:
  • Ensure all Tech E&O, Media and IP products and practices comply with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Stay abreast of changes in the regulatory environment and adjust products and practices accordingly.

  • Market Analysis and Research:

  • Conduct regular market analysis to identify opportunities for growth and areas for improvement.

  • Monitor competitor activities and adjust strategies to maintain a competitive edge.

What you need to have:

  • Significant experience in technology errors and emissions, media and cyber risks and the means of managing them effectively.

  • Bachelor’s degree or certifications strongly preferred (ACII)

  • Strong commercial skills and instincts coupled with a bottom-line orientation.

  • Entrepreneurial, but with the organizational savvy required to operate effectively in a matrixed environment.

  • Ability to evaluate risks to the company and articulate issues, develop consensus, raise awareness
